Young Authors committee
“By elevating your reading, you will improve your writing or at least tickle your thinking.” — William Safire
Sabrina Secrest and Jenni Carowan lead the NCRA’s Young Authors Committee. The North Carolina Reading Association’s Young Authors Project invites local reading councils to engage writers, K-12 and adult, and celebrates exemplary writing at the local and state level. To encourage individual expression, NCRA offers a broad topic as the prompt and allows students and adults to write prose or poetry, fiction or non-fiction, and include art and photography. The 2014-2015 prompt is “Dare to Dream.”
NCRA judges select entries to publish in a state Young Authors’ book distributed at the recognition held at the Raleigh Convention Center on March 14, 2015, the Saturday before the NCRA conference.
NCRA welcomes parents, grandparents, teachers and other family and friends to join young writers and Forever Young authors at the celebration.
