Adolescent Literacy committee
“You can’t teach people everything they need to know. The best you can do is position them where they can find what they need to know when they need to know it.” – Seymour Papert
The committee’s goal is to help adolescents understand that becoming fully literate is a lifelong journey – a journey into the unknown as literacy continues to evolve. Regardless of where their journeys may lead them, teens’ literacy development will make a significant impact on the success they achieve in their careers, their economic security, the fullness of their lives, and the contributions they make to their communities and society.
Toward this goal, NCRA promotes opportunities for teens and their teachers to learn about the hottest new books, create video responses to their favorite books (bookcasts), meet exciting Young Adult (YA) authors, and more.
